Just upgrade to XF 2.3 and activated image optimization. I cannot upload this simple PNG image, it ends up with the following error:
Oops! We ran into some problems.
Provided file is not a valid image.

It works perfectly if image optimization is disabled.
I'm using PHP-8.3.10.
I do not know if this has an impact but I have the issue whether I choose built-in GD or Image Magick. Imagick does have webp support.
