Is there a way to prevent forum users from receiving email notifications for threads?

I would like to limit the number of emails sent from my board a bit more, since the hosting limits the number of emails sent and I don't want some people to be unable to register because they don't receive emails.

My question is more specifically about Thread Monitoring. When someone posts in a thread, they automatically follow it. When someone replies, other users who follow it receive alerts and emails. I would like to remove the ability to receive thread emails. Is there an option to...
