"Trending Content" Widget -- Why Does it Show Old Posts

I just migrated my forum from vbulletin to XenForo (yesterday). I edited the "Trending Content" widget to read "Newest Posts" and I want this section to list the newest posts/content in descending order. I've done searches to try to resolve this, and some answers say to adjust the widget filter (there does not appear to be a widget filter) and others say to set the layout for the main forum page to new posts only.
