Hide (main) forum while still showing subforms

I have a forum with no threads but there are subforums. I keep the main forum as it's useful in the forum asa container for the subforms, however when you go that forum I want the forum_view to only show the subforms, not the empty forum itself. So I want to remove the forum block for just that one specific forum (id=30)

I've tried a few things but seem complicated, I'm sure someone can provide a simple and elegant solution. Please.
