Adjusting user email notifications, so they visit the forum not just read the email

users gets email on topics , posts etc
but the email contains the entire post, which has been pointed out to me, the users now just dont need to log into the forum, as they have got the update they wanted

The question, how do i tweak these setting so that they are notified of an update, that they have to go to the forum to read ?
same for direct messages, but the issue is the email notifications behind too thorough
